Our group decided to get pictures from the younger baby boomers that we knew personally. We wound up getting five different sets of data as well as combining data we gathered from online searches. The most challenging aspect of collecting the data was actually collecting the data. There are far fewer opportunities to observe baby boomers in a condensed time frame. Speaking of a condensed time frame, it could be very difficult in general to gather house buying information within such a short period of time. With that said, it was through the help of Prof. Luchs that we decided on creating a photo set of aspects of peoples’ homes and the stories behind it.
Another challenging aspect of this portion of the project was synthesizing the data into bins that fit our research questions. It is a lot of inference that entered the observations and how they fit to answer our questions. That is true with observations in general but it felt even more so with still pictures. Overall, I think we had good data that supported our secondary research and even added further refinement to our original research questions.
